Welcome to the dark side.

It was your average Tuesday in November during the height of the evening rush. Suddenly at 5:28 pm New York went dark.

The blackout was caused by the tripping of a 230-kilovolt transmission line near Ontario, Canada which caused several other heavily loaded lines to fail as well. This lead to the breakup of the entire Northeastern network.

Altogether, 30 million people in eight states and the provinces of Ontario and Quebec were affected.

Oh yeah, I was born 2 hours later.

Was it a sign that I was destined to do great things? Well, if you consider pitching ads for beer, candy, airlines, real estate, chicken and paper towel great things, then I guess it was.
